A portion of our funds go directly to support the Feeding Hope Fund, a NEDA (National Eating Disorder Association) initiative – which provides grants to qualified clinical researchers for advancing the training and dissemination of evidence based treatments for Eating Disorders to fellow clinicians.
Without research, nothing will change; the current status of treatment, training, education and awareness is unacceptable. Brain-based research is in its infancy; funding is absolutely necessary to develop effective treatment to save lives. The mortality rate for anorexia is 20%. By collaborating with existing research initiatives, KMB is able to impact quality programs and maximize efficiency. One of the challenging aspects of ED is that by the time a diagnosis is made, the disease has ravaged the individual and is firmly entrenched; immediate and intensive treatment is needed, there is not time to delay or be denied insurance coverage.
